Contract ServicesPlease note: Due to agreements with my "day job" employer, there are a number of products and companies to which I cannot provide contract programming services. In such instances, I may be able to recommend a consultant who is not constrained. Please contact me for more information. Christopher Kempke (of CrystalFire Software) is available for short-term, remote contract programming or software analysis work. His specialties are Mac Carbonization (moving classic Macintosh software to OS X), Macintosh to/from Windows conversions, and more generally C/C++/Java application software in general. He also knows Pascal, Visual Basic.NET, and a handful of more esoteric languages. C++ Skill EvaluationHistorically, it has been difficult to evaluate C++ skills in current or potential employees. Unlike Java, commonly-available standardized C++ tests are often specific to Windows Visual C++, usually concentrate on peculiarities of the Windows environment, and barely touch upon the C++ language itself. This makes it a challenge to evaluate people for non-Visual C++ programming, despite the language's popularity on Unix, Mac, and even Windows. Even in the Windows environment, learning Visual C++ is far less difficult than learning the C++ language itself. With ten years of experience in C++, including significant experience supervising and evaluating other programmers, Christopher is is highly qualified to gauge skills in the core (Standard and pre-standard) C++ language in a phone or face-to-face interview process. He will contract his services to assist in evaluating C++ skills, such as part of an employment screening process.
